ACCIDENT ?
Accidents are very rare at camp, especially when the main activities do not involve major risks.
Tennis is not a risky sport and French law is very demanding of us in terms of security norms and staff, in order to be "Jeunesse et Sports"(Youth and sports) accredited, which is our case.
However, we cannot guarantee a zero risk factor, and we do our best to prevent accidents:
Warming up before training sessions, accredited staff for mountain hikes, surveillance of external staff during speialist activities(ie. rafting) .
In the event of an accident, the camp is linked to medical centres in Colmars les Alpes and Allos. Three doctors are present in the valley..
In the event of a major accident, Digne hospital is 20min away by helicopter.
WHAT IS "Jeunesse et Sports" Administration ?
French law requires of every camp and leisure organisation to declare their camp to the prefect of the department where it is located. Questions concerning leisure and socio-cultural activities are then directed to "Jeuness et Sports" (Youth and Sports).
Therefore, camp directors have to abide to a set of rules regarding the organisation of the camp:
The nature of the activities and for sports, the conditions in which they are practiced.
The organisation of activity and rest periods.
The number of staff members in charge of campers and their qualifications, BAFA, BAFD, BEES and the organisation of staff.
The state and details of the facilities and the number of campers staying in the structure.
Security for the facilities, especialy at night.
Whatever the type of camp (summer camp, academy, day camp, etc.), the primary concern for parents wishing to send their child to camp is to verify that the organisation is accredited.
AUTONOMY ?
Autonomy is a major part of the educational programme at our camp. For groups of teenagers, it is the first step towards adulthood where no one will be behind them in an exam situation or interview.
Our camp tries to help them by introducing a sense of responsibility at camp and during their activities. This is done in the following ways:
In tennis, players are made aware that no one will hold their racket when serving a match point. Players face their result and and have to rapidly shed looks towards parents, coach, etc. and concentrate on the game.
This attitude is present everyday and at every training session during camp.
For hiking programmes, teenagers prepare their journey in collaboration with their leader. They also undertake autonomous hikes after having studied the trail. They organise their own activities with a staff member.Autonomy also means cleaning duties with roommates and helping to lay and unlay dining tables.
BAFA - Aptitude Brevet to Animator's job. (Camp counselors)
Camp counselors are BAFA accredited or trainees about to obtain BAFA.
This training allows counselors to organise activities in accordance with the educational project of the camp.
Counselors also ensure the good running of the camp (waking up, meals, hygiene, room cleanliness, security, taking the campers where they need to be for activities) while ensuring physical and emotional security of the campers.
DISABILITY AND SPECIAL NEEDS?
We have a project of developing a wheelchair tennis programme. The town council is apparently ready to make the courts wheelchair accessible, which will not be easy in a mountain area.
We welcome children with special needs in the condition that this need will not be a security concern for the camp and that a special needs couselor is allocated to that group.
DRILLS ?
During a drill, the coach sends balls from the basket so that the player finishes the schema of the game without depending on the level of his or her opponent. Usually, the player's action finishes by winning the point in the given game zones.
Drills can also be cooperative, with the inconvenient being that the players distance themselves from the primary function of our sport which is to win the point.
In the Val dAllos, every action during training finishes with an aim to gain the point.
DRUGS AND ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.
Alcohol and drugs are banned from camp . A camper found carrying these products will be sent home without notice and to the charge of the parents or guardian. (Charge of 500 euros if travelling by train and accompanied).
In the 10 years of the camp's existence, this has never occured.
EDUCATIONAL PROJECT.
In accordance with "Jeuness et Sports" accreditation, the educational project must be presented.
This project includes the objectives of the camp and the different elements concerning the organisation and running of the camp.
For us, our three main objectives are:
1. To develop a sense of a community living environment.
2. To progress in or discover the chosen programme(tennis, basketball, football or hiking)
3. To discover and experience this superb region of the Val d'Allos.

EVENING ACTIVITIES
Evening and week-end activities are organised by BAFA (Brevet d'Aprtitude à la Fonction de l'Animation) accredited staff when campers are not practising their main activity (ie.tennis, basketball or football).
Examples of these activites include:
giant cluedo, karaoke, disco, fashion shows, chess contests, varied games, introduction games, etc.
HACCP
L'HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is a method of risk prevention in the preparation of meals and the organisation of the kitchen. It is monitored each summer by inspectors of the Alpes de Haute Provence department.
The kitchen staff and the counselors all trained to these methods.
The objective is to ensure a catering service of high hygienic standards in order to prevent food poisoning for the campers.
It follows the following 15 directives:
- Reception of goods.
- Temperature control.
- Hygiene training for staff.
- Rotation of clothing.
- Medical surveillance of staff.
- Time control between arrival and preparation.
- Avoiding cross contamination.
- Cooking.
- Time control between prepared meal and service.
- Bacteriological autocontrol.
- Monitoring of leftovers.
- Dishwashing.
- Working space cleaning.
- Drying of dishes.
- Organising clean dishes.
MAIL and CONTACT.
Campers will be able to write during rest periods. They can buy post card during trips to the village. Post is sent everyday.
You can also give your child stamped addressed envelopes.
If your child receives an email, he or she will be able to reply.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE.
If your child requires medical treatment, place treatment information and medecines in a small bag which will be given to the camp director who will make sure that the treatment is taken.
The camp is linked to the medical centres of Allos and Colmars les Alpes where a doctor can be called at all times .
We remind you that it is of utmost importance to complete the camper's medical form and to mention any sanitary requirements that you think wil affect his or her stay.
This form is confidential and read solely by the director who will be the person to speak to for any query concerning health.
MOBILE PHONES.
Changing times are now allowing campers to contact their families at any time with a mobile phone...
Sometimes, parents ask us why their child hasn't contacted them even though he or she carries a mobile phone!
Sometimes, the camp atmosphere makes them forget.
However, parents should not hesitate to contact us.
Mobile phones are banned from training sessions and meals. Outside of these periods, campers can contact their friends and families with their phone. All network operators are accessible in the Val d'Allos.Campers can also give their phone to the director to prevent loss.
EVENING ACTIVITIES.
Evening activities take place after the evening meal and prevents campers from being left without an occupation and also to let them discover other activities.
The camp cliché of singing around a campfire is far outdated ( fires are banned in the Haut Verdon) and night time activities are now based around theme games in which children and teenagers participate actively.
These activities are adpated to the age of the campers and provide unforgettable memories along with discos!
LANCE BALLES PLAYMATE ?
Our PLAYMATE is a ball machine, it the only ball machine Playmate in France.
Fantastic machine whit ball feeding speed over 240 Km by hour and can generate all spins, slice, top spin, lateral spin and ramdom feeding, 60 balls minute rythm (one ball by second).

This machine can reach the serve position with lifter TULIP, it can serve and is fantastic to train the return of serve. Players will get spectaculars improvement so quickly.
Each summer all children will train to the ball machine Playmate
POCKET MONEY.
A bank system is offered to campers on their arrival. If a camper does not wish to deposit his or her money in this system, we cannot be held responsible for loss or left.
We recommend notes of 20 to 40 euros is largely sufficient.
Campers do not have to make any additional payment during camp.
QUALITY ?
Our camp has been running for 10 years and we realise that each year more than 40% of campers return. This is built through the confidence that you have in our camp.
The satisfaction of our campers is a priority. Therefore, we organise the main activities (tennis, football, basketball, hiking) in a way that campers will be able to progress.
All that in a friendly, dynamic and secure environment.
The satisfaction of campers is valued throughout the camp in the forms of group meetings where they can express any concern or question they may have. A camp satisfaction questionnaire is also distributed to campers at the end of camp in order to improve the quality of our camps.
OUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS SMOKING
At an altitude of 1800 M it would be incoherent to breathe in tobacco.
Smoking is banned from our camp and it is a recruiting criteria that the entire staff is non-smoking.
There are no exceptions and if a camper is caught smoking, we will ask him or her to hand in their cigarettes and destroy them in their presence.
STAFF.

- 1 camp director for each session.
- Camp counselors, one for 12 campers.
- Accredited coaching staff, tennis, basket, football, USPTR in tennis. (see page: coaches).

VIOLENCE
Each act of violence towards another camper will result in immediate expulsion from camp. There is no reason why a camper should ruin another's holidays.
No child ever came to camp to be hit or threatened.
And to this day, we haven't had to send a camper home for this reason.
